CHNOLA adds wellness-focused HR Leader to Executive Team
Children’s Hospital New Orleans announces the appointment of Jill Fragoso as Assistant Vice President Human Resources. In this capacity, Fragoso will partner with the Children’s Hospital leadership team and the LCMC Health Human Resources Department to initiate innovative strategies to improve staff engagement and wellness, customer service, talent management, and financial performance. Fragoso will also be responsible for identifying future workforce needs and will proactively identify trends to recruit and retain the next generation of CHNOLA sidekicks.
“The real treasure of Children’s Hospital is our people,” said John R. Nickens IV, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “Adding a high performing, people-focused leader like Jill reflects our continued commitment to investing in the talent that has made us the leading pediatric academic medical center in the Gulf South.”
In addition to her oversight over traditional HR functions, Fragoso will also serve as a key business ally as the organization continues its ongoing culture work. “In 2018, we saw double digit gains in our employee engagement scores and were recognized as one of New Orleans’ Best Places to Work,” said Jamie Wiggins, Chief Nursing Officer, who also serves as the senior executive responsible for Human Resources at CHNOLA. “Adding Jill to our leadership team will amplify the important culture and leadership development work we are doing at CHNOLA and across LCMC Health.”
“It is a privilege to join Children’s Hospital at a time when it is investing so heavily in its people,” said Fragoso. “Between its work with Values Coach, Solutions for Patient Safety, and new initiatives like Error Prevention Training, it’s no wonder the best and brightest want to work at Children’s Hospital. I’m humbled to join the organization during this exciting period of growth and to build on CHNOLA’s strong foundation of teamwork and community.”
A nurse by training and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, Fragoso joins Children’s with a wealth of Human Resources and wellness experience at top hospitals in Texas and the Midwest. Fragoso most recently served as a Director of Human Resources with Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), where she oversaw all aspects of the employee health, wellness, and benefits program for the 14,000-person organization. In this capacity, Fragoso launched an enterprise-wide employee well-being strategy and a virtual health initiative to increase access to convenient, high-quality care for employees. Before joining TCH, Fragoso also held HR leadership positions at Presence Health and Northshore University Health System in the Greater Chicago area.
Fragoso also practices what she preaches. An accomplished endurance athlete, Fragoso is a certified personal trainer, three-time Ironman finisher, and has completed the Spartan Race trifecta.
