The Goldring Family and Woldenberg Foundations Pledge $2 Million Toward Extraordinary Together: The Campaign for Louisiana's Children in Support of Behavioral Health.

NEW ORLEANS – The new Behavioral Health Center at Children’s Hospital New Orleans is made possible in part by the generous support of the Goldring Family and Woldenberg Foundations who have pledged $2 million toward Children’s Hospital’s capital campaign, Extraordinary Together: The Campaign for Louisiana’s Children.

The new Behavioral Health Center, opening in March 2020, will be among the largest and most comprehensive pediatric behavioral health programs in the nation. The $25 million project, located on the hospital’s main campus, is exclusively dedicated to serving children and adolescents with a wide range of mental and behavioral health disorders.

“Creating a better future for our kids means developing innovative ways to change the dynamics of pediatric healthcare,” said John R. Nickens IV, President and Chief Executive Officer at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “With one in five children affected by behavioral and mental health disorders, we must amplify the way we are proactively addressing behavioral healthcare for children— and we could not do that without the support of our community and the incredible generosity of the Goldring Family and Woldenberg Foundations. This is what being Extraordinary Together is all about.”

Children’s new Behavioral Health Center will offer acute inpatient behavioral health treatment in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for kids who are 7-17 years old. The program focuses on teaching and empowering each patient to develop healthy life skills to improve his or her function and future quality of life. Outpatient services will also be provided at the new center to complement inpatient care, including assessment and treatment of psychiatric and behavioral disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and mood disturbance.

Children’s Hospital’s $300 million campus expansion is transforming the future of healthcare for Louisiana’s children. The transformation of the hospital’s main campus is not only improving infrastructure and technology, the enhancements Children’s Hospital is introducing will make it easier for patients and families across the region to access its vital healthcare services.

With the goal to raise $40 million by 2025, the funds raised through The Campaign for Louisiana’s Children will enable Children’s Hospital to bring innovation to pediatric healthcare for the state of Louisiana. The vital funds raised through the capital campaign effort will help further the mission of Children’s Hospital as the leading pediatric healthcare institution in the state, providing expert care for all children regardless of their ability to pay.
