Here's a summer reminder you've all heard before: Don't leave your kids in hot cars!

Young children overheat more quickly than grownups. And cars can overheat to deadly levels in minutes.

To keep your child safe, follow these steps:

  • Never leave a child alone in a car.

  • When you put a child in the backseat of your car, put a cellphone, purse, or something else you need next to the child.

  • Lock your car to keep children from getting in while it’s parked. About 30 percent of kids who die in a hot car get into it on their own.

Kids and hot cars are a deadly combination. No matter what the weather, always check the back seat of your car to ensure that no child is left inside. If you see a child alone in a car, take action! Call 911 immediately.
