Children’s Hospital New Orleans welcomes developmental-behavioral pediatrician Dr. Susan Fielkow, expanding access to specialized behavioral health services for children and adolescents across the region.

Dr. Fielkow joins Children’s Hospital from Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, where she most recently served as Division Head for Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, after serving as the Section Head of Development-Behavioral Pediatrics at NorthShore University Health Systems in Chicago.

NEW ORLEANS – Children’s Hospital New Orleans proudly announces the appointment of Susan Fielkow, MD, FAAP to its growing team of mental and behavioral health providers. A Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician, Dr. Fielkow will serve a critical role as an outpatient pediatric specialist who will evaluate and treat children and adolescents with a wide range of neurodevelopmental and behavioral conditions.

“With the addition of Dr. Fielkow, outpatient behavioral health services at Children’s Hospital will further expand to meet the needs of more child and adolescent patients in our community and across the region,” says George Bisset III, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “We are thrilled to add her expertise to our team of pediatric behavioral health providers, as we work diligently to transform behavioral healthcare for children.”

Dr. Fielkow treats a wide variety of conditions affecting children, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disorders, autism, mild intellectual disabilities, and developmental concerns accompanying some genetic conditions.

Dr. Susan Fielkow has over 37 year of experience in pediatrics, including her service at Ochsner Medical Center and NorthShore University Health Systems in Chicago. As a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Florida College of Medicine, she completed her pediatric residency at Michael Reese Hospital and pediatric chief of residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Fielkow is board certified in both pediatrics and developmental-behavioral pediatrics, and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In April 2020, Children’s Hospital New Orleans opened its new, 51-bed Behavioral Health Center, which offers acute inpatient behavioral health treatment in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for kids ages 7-17 years old. Outpatient services provided at the new center include assessment and treatment of psychiatric and behavioral disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and mood disturbance.
