With the Etiometry platform, the Heart Center of Children’s Hospital New Orleans brings state-of-the-art technology to dedicated Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit improving care of critically ill patients with congenital cardiovascular disorders from across Louisiana and the Gulf South.
NEW ORLEANS – The Heart Center of Children’s Hospital New Orleans is pleased to announce the arrival of Etiometry’ s clinical decision-support software to the Children’s Hospital Heart Center’s new, 28-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). The addition of this innovative decision-support software supports Children’s Hospital’s position as the leading children’s hospital for quaternary pediatric heart care, serving children and families from across Louisiana and Gulf South.
The Heart Center at Children’s Hospital is the first program in Louisiana and Gulf South to implement Etiometry’s advanced, clinical decision-support technology. For clinicians at the Heart Center, the technology will help assess and inform the best treatment decisions for patients with complex congenital and acquired cardiac conditions.
“The patients we care for have very complex medical conditions,” said Dr. Thomas Kimball, Pediatric Cardiologist and Co-Director of the Heart Center at Children’s Hospital. “Having access to advanced technology to inform critical decisions based on individual patient data will allow us to deliver the highest quality of patient care. Adding Etiometry to our system will ensure our clinicians are able to make the best clinical decisions, combining their expertise and experience, with powerful, precise and personalized patient data.”
Last year, the Heart Center opened an expansive 28-bed CICU, state-of-the-art operating rooms, and two advanced cardiac catheterization laboratories on Children’s Hospital’s main campus. In addition to expansion of physical space, the Heart Center team has experienced significant growth over the last 18 months, with the recruitment of additional pediatric heart specialists from some of the nation’s top children’s hospitals including a cardiothoracic surgeon, coronary artery disease specialist, perfusionists, cardiac intensivists, heart failure specialist, a fetal cardiology expert, an additional electrophysiologist and a board certified adult congenital cardiologist, as well as a specialist in fetal echocardiography. Pediatric Cardiac Care has grown from the main campus to locations throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South.
As a leader in clinical decision-support software, the Etiometry platform is utilized in more than 20 of the top children’s hospitals nationwide. Clinicians utilizing the platform are able to better manage patient data, which provides actionable information in intensive care settings.
“Partnering with Children’s Hospital to bring this new technology to New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf South is an exciting opportunity for Etiometry,” said Shane Cooke, CEO of Etiometry. “The more healthcare organizations we can deploy our software in, the more patient lives we can positively impact. We are committed to providing technology that delivers life-changing care and improved patient health outcomes.”
