Children's Hospital New Orleans welcomes nationally known Craniofacial and Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Delora Mount, to lead Plastic Surgery Program

Dr. Mount, who specializes in craniofacial surgery, will provide leadership as the Service Line Chief for plastic and reconstructive surgery at Children’s Hospital and professor of clinical surgery at LSU Health New Orleans.
NEW ORLEANS – Children’s Hospital New Orleans, the first and largest full-service hospital exclusively for children in Louisiana and the Gulf South, welcomes Dr. Delora Mount, a national expert in craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery, as service line chief for plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Mount will also serve as professor of clinical surgery at LSU Health New Orleans.

Nationally known for her expertise in craniofacial surgery, Dr. Mount recently completed her term as President of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons. She has also held leadership positions at the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association and the AO Craniomaxillofacial Educational Foundation North America, and has served on several esteemed committees including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation and the international plastic surgery nonprofit, Interplast-ReSurge. Additionally, she has served on the FDA’s General Plastic Surgery Panel of the Medical Devices and the advisory committee for their Center of Devices and Radiological Health.
Prior to joining Children’s Hospital New Orleans, Dr. Mount served as Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin. A native of Illinois, Dr. Mount completed her undergraduate and medical training at the University of Illinois, followed by training in General Surgery at Indiana University. She completed her training in Plastic Surgery at UCSF and training in Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Washington University in St Louis.

The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program at Children’s Hospital New Orleans’ treats a wide variety of both common and complex surgical needs, including congenital deformities, craniofacial anomalies, plagiocephaly, trauma-related surgeries and more. The team is passionate about providing patients with the highest quality care to restore function, quality of life, and long-term outcomes. All members of the plastic and reconstructive surgical team are fellowship trained and utilize a multidisciplinary team approach to treat the unique challenges presented by certain conditions that require plastic surgery.
