Children’s Hospital New Orleans Ranks #1 in Louisiana and among the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals for Pediatrics by Newsweek for the Fourth Year in a Row

Children’s Hospital New Orleans is the only children’s hospital in Louisiana and the Gulf South to be ranked among the ‘World’s Best’ out of 250 hospitals internationally, ranking #34 in the U.S.

NEW ORLEANS – Children’s Hospital New Orleans is proud to be recognized as the number one, and only, children’s hospital in Louisiana and the Gulf South to be ranked among the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals for Pediatrics by Newsweek for the fourth year in a row. The ranking program features the top 250 hospitals for pediatrics worldwide, and Children’s Hospital New Orleans ranked #64 in the world, and #34 in the United States for the 2025 rankings, published in September. Additionally, Children’s Hospital New Orleans earned recognition for three of its service lines as part of Newsweek’s America’s Best Children’s Hospital’s 2024 rankings, with the hospital’s Pulmonology (#29), Neonatology (#30), and Oncology (#45) programs all ranking in the top 50 nationally.

“We are proud to again be recognized among Newsweek’s ‘World’s Best Specialized Hospitals for Pediatrics’ – a representation of our team’s hard work and dedication to excellence in pediatric care,” said Lucio A. Fragoso, President and Chief Executive Officer for Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “This elite honor reflects Children’s Hospital New Orleans’ steadfast commitment to provide the highest level of care for the children across Louisiana and the Gulf South – a promise we’ve delivered on throughout our 70-year history.”

The World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2025 ranking awards the leading hospitals worldwide in 12 medical fields: Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Pulmonology, Urology, and Obstetrics & Gynecology. The underlying data analysis is based on three data sources: an International Online Survey in which tens of thousands of medical professionals were invited to give recommendations in their area of expertise, accreditation data and patient-reported outcome measures.

“Our team of pediatric providers, nurses and other professionals works around-the-clock to deliver comprehensive pediatric care, of the highest quality,” said Mark W. Kline, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Physician-in-Chief for Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “Our vision to change the health of a generation starts by providing accessible pediatric care of the highest standard so children across Louisiana and the Gulf South can receive the lifesaving ad lifechanging care they need close to home. The Newsweek rankings are a wonderful reflection of that commitment.”

Newsweek’s 'America’s Best Children’s Hospitals' rankings aim to provide patients and family members with a comprehensive resource to inform decision making in finding the Best Children's Hospitals in the United States for their specific treatment needs. The lists are based on four data sources: a nationwide online survey of thousands of health care professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about pediatric care, results from patient surveys, publicly available hospital quality metrics, and patient-reported outcome measures.
