Craniofacial Pediatrics is a highly specialized field of pediatric medicine and an integral and valued part of the Craniofacial Center. The craniofacial pediatrician at Children’s Hospital New Orleans works closely with the surgeons, craniofacial team members, and the primary care provider to provide the diagnosis and treatment management for infants, children with craniofacial conditions including cleft lip and cleft palate, craniosynostosis, plagiocephaly and other related diagnosis.
The craniofacial pediatrician at Children’s Hospital attends the craniofacial team clinics and works with the patients and their families on the inpatient craniofacial service, supporting them both before and after surgery. The craniofacial pediatrician helps to create the child’s individualized and comprehensive treatment plan and helps to monitor the child’s general health and development. With only one fellowship program for craniofacial pediatrics available in the United States, the fellowship trained craniofacial pediatrician offers a unique perspective to the extraordinary care provided by the team. The Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Team has the only program in Louisiana and the Gulf South region to offer this valued service.
