Skin and Joint Clinic

Skin and joint care for babies, children, and teens

The Skin and Joint Clinic at Children’s Hospital New Orleans is a multidisciplinary clinic that addresses the unique needs of the pediatric patients who present with signs and symptoms involving the skin and musculoskeletal system. Because the skin often acts as an immunologic organ, patients with rheumatologic diseases often present with a skin issue. This combined clinic allows the providers to discuss each patient and to examine each patient together. The collaborative evaluation of these patients allows the providers to more easily make an accurate and early diagnosis and to initiate timely treatment, leading to an improved patient and provider experience and overall better disease control and outcome for the patient.

Conditions commonly treated include the following:

  • Juvenile dermatomyositis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus with skin manifestations
  • Psoriasis/ psoriatic arthritis
  • Scleroderma
  • Mixed connective tissue diseases
