The Children’s Hospital New Orleans Cerebral Palsy Clinic uses a multidisciplinary team approach to address the unique needs of children with cerebral palsy, the most common movement disorder in children. Providers from the Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Orthopedics Departments, as well physical and occupational therapists, collaborate to assess the child’s unique needs and to develop a comprehensive, personalized care plan.
Patients are evaluated by the team of providers in one setting, allowing for easy collaboration among the providers while decreasing the number of visits needed to the clinic by the patient and family. While the effects of cerebral palsy cannot be reversed, our team of experts can help improve the child’s daily functioning with the use of medications, therapy, and surgical procedures. Because cerebral palsy is a lifelong condition, our team is here to provide support and resources for each patient and their family.
The Cerebral Palsy Clinic is held at the main campus at Children’s Hospital monthly and requires an internal referral after the patient is evaluated by a pediatric neurologist, orthopedic surgeon or physical medicine and rehabilitation provider.
