The kidney and liver transplant programs at Children’s Hospital are approved providers for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and for the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS).
The kidney transplant team provides kidney transplantation evaluation, surgery, and follow-up care for children with end-stage kidney disease. A comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach is provided to our patients and their families, including coordinated post-transplant management of care. Long-term follow-up care continues until patients are transitioned to adult services. Children’s Hospital offers the largest pediatric kidney transplant program in Louisiana.

Our experts are leaders in the field of pediatric liver care and the team includes pediatric hepatologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, interventional radiologists, infectious disease specialists, intensive care specialists, transplant coordinators, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers and dietitians. Our team collaborates with the referring pediatrician, gastroenterologists, and insurance companies to address all the needs of the patients and their families while waiting for a transplant.
